   _Genetic Consultation_
Sometimes it is difficult to recognize genetic diseases in children because
the symptoms may seem completely unrelated to each other. Because of this,
families can spend a lot of time visiting different specialists in search of
a diagnosis and treatment for a sick child. Not only is this costly and
extremely frustrating, in some cases a delay in proper diagnosis can lead to
additional, even life-threatening, complications. Common reasons for infants
and children to see a genetic specialist (such as a genetic counselor or
medical geneticist) include: abnormal results on newborn screening tests,
growth problems, lack of milestone achievements, physical abnormalities or
birth defects, mental retardation or developmental delays, autism, suspected
genetic condition or chromosome abnormality, blindness, deafness and
seizures. For in depth information on why children and adults are referred
to a genetic specialist and what they do, visit:

_Awesome Mommy’s Helper available for overnight baby duty!_
When my 2^nd set of identical twins were born 20 months ago, we needed some
extra help in the house at night. Jeny, is the niece of our old nanny, so I

and is so sweet. She lives in NR and drives. She has been in the country for
about 7 years(or so) and did not learn English until she got here, but given
that, her language skills are VERY impressive. Not only has she worked for
us, but many many of my friends as well that are willing to offer glowing
references too! If you are a new mom or dad and need some sleep at night,
call her to help! 818-687-6945. Feel free to email me too! Jen –

_CONEJO VALLEY MOTHERS & MORE OPEN HOUSE _
The Conejo Valley chapter of Mothers & More will host author Kristin
Maschka, who will read from and discuss her new book, THIS IS NOT HOW I
THOUGHT IT WOULD BE: Remodeling Motherhood to Get the Lives We Want Today
   Thursday, April 22^nd at 7:30pm
   Barnes & Noble
160 S. Westlake Blvd. in Thousand Oaks
The discussion is free of charge and the general public is encouraged to
attend. Kristin Maschka explores the epiphany every mother has when the
disconnect between “ideal family life” and real life becomes all too clear.
Maschka goes below the surface of mothers’ everyday challenges to reveal the
invisible, outdated assumptions about mothers, fathers, money, marriage, and
work that are completely out of sync with today’s families. Maschka weaves
together her own story, anecdotes from mothers across the country, and a
deep knowledge of history and society to offer mothers a book that inspires
with simple, concrete tools mothers can use to remodel motherhood for
themselves, their families, and their future. For more information or to
RSVP, please contact Lucy at [27]cvmothersandmore at gmail.com or log on to the
website at [28]www.conejovalleymothersandmore.org. The Conejo Valley chapter
