Help Feed the Homeless With Your Kids
Yvonne Brooks is always looking for volunteers to help feed the homeless.
She will find something for even your little ones to do from putting forks
and napkins in bags to putting a piece of bread in each container. There is
something for everyone to do. It is completely volunteer based. It is one of
the most rewarding experiences and is unlike other food banks where kids
have to be at least 13 years old to help. In 2000, she started feeding the
homeless by making 30 hot meals out of her home for Thanksgiving and taking
the food downtown to skid row. Since 2008, she started using the Burbank
Salvation Army kitchen to prepare 50 hot meals a month. She now feeds 1,200
- 1,500 meals a month (approximately 200 of the meals feed the homeless at
the Burbank Salvation Army and the balance are taken downtown to skid row).
Yvonne Brooks welcomes volunteers at the Burbank Salvation Army on Sunday's
from 6:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. She is looking for volunteers to help prepare
the food and to put it in containers to be taken downtown and to feed the
homeless at the Burbank Salvation Army. She is not asking for people to go
downtown to hand out the food. The Burbank Salvation Army is located at 300
E. Angeleno Avenue, Burbank, CA 91502. Yvonne always appreciates your time

Lanai Road Elementary is a public LAUSD school, serving over 500 students
and their families in grades K-5 in the Encino area. Your donation will

These dogs need a home
Male dog, 9 months old, has been fixed, needs a good home, great with kids,
and very smart, calms down after a few minutes of excitement of seeing you..
Likes other dogs as well, not sure with cats, but I know other poodles that

Priscilla is a gorgeous one and a half year old blue spayed female Mastiff
puppy who came into the shelter as a stray on December 1st.  Weighing
approximately eighty-five pounds this active, gentle girl is great with
people and other dogs.  Priscilla knows some commands and is probably
housebroken.  Extremely food motivated she is eager to please and will be
easy to train.  Priscilla will make a wonderful addition to an active family

These two very sweet dogs were discarded by their own “family” last night in
an alley-way.  A witness saw these dogs getting dumped. They need RESCUE

•       The brown one is a German Shepherd dog mix, about 1-2 years old, in
good shape (other than the fact that he needs a quick bath), and very hungry
for attention.  He weighs about 50 pounds?  He is a male, not neutered.  
•       The white one is a small-medium Corgi/Spitz mix who weighs about 30
pounds.  She is short and small, and my vet says she has not been spayed.
She is a bit shy, but she comes right to you for hugs and treats.  She
appears to be well-fed, and healthy too.  Only 1 year old.
