American Cancer Society Relay For Life
Held May 17-18th in Calabasas, it is a 24 hour event to simulate what a cancer patient goes thru, cancer never sleeps. Honor survivors and remember those we have lost all while raising awareness of cancer, prevention and funds in the fight against cancer. There are other events thru the Valley (Agoura Hills is May 3-4, The Valley at BHS is June 7-8) and survivors are asked to attend any of the events to be honored. The kick off is 10am on Saurday which includes the survivor lap to start us off for the event. They ask that each team have at least 1 person on the track for all 24 hours. For those that are not walking, they have bands, games, water events and activities at each camp site. People of all ages can join the event. is not a requirement to stay all 24 hours if someone can only be there for part of the event, they are welcome. They can check out the web site to register as a survivor, start a team, join a team, or volunteer to help during the event. Visitors are welcome from 9 am till 11 pm on Saturday and 7 am untill 10am on Sunday. For those wanting to sleep over,  they ask that they raise a minumum of $100, which also gets them the event t-shirt and food for the entire event. Looking for someone with great writing skills 
And/or an interest in water policy that can cover public meetings (2-3 days per month). The meetings are scheduled in advance and generally last 8-3pm, sometimes less. You will need to attend meetings downtown, dress professionally and write up a 2-3 page report immediately after the meetings.
