Nanny Leads
FUN LOVING AND RESPONSIBLE NANNY AVAILABLE! We ended up having to let our nanny go because my needs changed since we hired her but she is terrific. Johanna is young, energetic, playful and extremely responsible and reliable. She showed up to work on time every day without fail and if she was ever running behind on something she would always call to let me know. Johanna also played with my kids whose ages range from 3 months old to 5 1/2 years old and was great at keeping them entertained all day. She drives, speaks perfect English and is legal and is available full time. You can call her directly at 323 356 1444 and call me (Sara) for a reference at 818 760 0474 or email me at singer_schiff at sbcglobal.net
AND
Hillary is 23 years old, has a B.S. in Child and Family Development and has worked with children for over 11 years. She is currently seeking a part time or full time position and is available from early morning until late evening daily. $15 an hour. Please email MonkeyMysteries at yahoo.com if you are interested. For a reference, email Aahsmblosm at yahoo.com and jbynder at verizon.net
AND
Jewish gradma available for live-out position; Drives a Volvo and can fit two car seats in the back. Speaks English only. Originally from New York & now lives in West Los Angeles and prefers to work in that area as well. Call Carol at (310)838-8350. Refered by Stacy and Bob Lifton. Resume available.
AND
Loving Nanny / Housekeeper available Tuesdays and Thursdays - Our wonderful nanny/housekeeper is going to be available 2 days a
week, Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting July 1, 2008. She is going to continue working for us three days a week: Monday, Wednesday and
Friday. We have 18-month old twins, and she has been working for us full-time since they were born. Our babies absolutely adore her. She has a terrific way with babies/children, is very patient, caring and loving. She treats our babies as if they were her own. She is very comfortable with infants and has a lot of patience for toddlers. She has also been doing our housekeeping. She would be willing to take work as either a nanny or a housekeeper. She speaks reasonably good English (she has been taking English class at night since she started working for us). She lives in Van Nuys and drives (not the babies). Please call me if you are interested to discuss further. Sharon 310-740-0502
AND
Jenny Zepeda has worked with twins from the time they were newborn. They are now 3 1/2 and are starting school. Her employers would like to keep her on part time, but she needs a full time job. Pretty perfect English and she can drive, has insurance and a perfect DMV record. Looking for a live-out full time job. Great references. Jenny's number is 213-949-3928
AND
Alba. She is a true pro at what she does. She is very caring, nurturing, trustworthy and reliable. If you know of anyone looking for morning help M-F (until 1pm) or for M-F full-time help, please have them contact Alba at 818-981-3986.
AND
My fabulous live-out nanny, Vicky, will be available full time as of July. She's cared for my daughter for the past 5 years, and is only leaving because my child is now in school all day and our needs have changed. She is incredibly responsible, loving, bright and attentive to the children she cares for. I've left my daughter with her when I travel, with no worries whatsoever. As a single parent, I've needed to rely on her extensively and she's never let me down. She speaks excellent English (she is Filipina)and drives a reliable car which she cares for better than I care for my own. She's also willing to do light housekeeping. While she has experience with a variety of ages, she's particularly good with babies, and any new mother could feel very safe leaving their child with her. She lives in Hollywood, so would probably be happiest with a family in that area to limit driving. She has been in the US for over 20 years (and is legal), and has many references in addition to me. If you'd like to know more, feel free to contact betsyzeidman at gmail.com
AND
Full-time, Live-Out Nanny For Hire - Because I recently quit working, we will no longer need our nanny, Gloria. Gloria has been with us for five and half years and has cared for all three of my children. She drives and speaks just enough English (her native language is Spanish). She is in her late 40s (I think) and is from El Salvador. In addition to being a companion for the kids, she shuttles the kids around to their school and various classes. She's also helps with light cleaning, grocery shopping, running errands and being a liason with the gardener, pool guy and car wash person. She is a hard worker with strong work ethics. She has extensive experience with infants and school-aged children (my kids are now ages 7, 3 and 2. She shows up to work on time everyday (which is rare given the unpredictability of LA traffic). She earned her US citizenship. She has never received a moving violation or been in an accident while working for me. She has good common sense. She is soft spoken, yet confident in her abilities. Most of all, she's very sweet and loving - she has been a wonderful caregiver to my children. We are sad to let her go. I'd like to help her find a family that is worthy of her. Please let me know if you, or anyone you know, needs a full-time nanny. Thanks! Margaret
AND
Sandra and she is looking for full time live-out wok but can not stay past 6:30 PM she is experienced with children and housekeeping - SANDRA HAS GREAT REFERENCES HAS TAKEN CPR TRAINING AND CAN COOK SIMPLE MEALS. Her home number is 818 831 2954 and her cell is 818 923-9668 - SHE IS LOOKING TO MAKE AT LEAST $15/ HOUR BUT THAT IS FOR AT LEAST 40 HOURS PER WEEK FOR LESS THAN THAT SHE WILL NEED MORE. SHE WOULD ALSO CONSIDER A WEEKLY SALARY OF $650 .
AND
One of a kind nanny available. Speaks English and Spanish, drives a reliable car, CPR certified and is a US citizen. If you are as paranoid about leaving your child with someone outside of your family as I am, you can relax. Dina has worked with us for 19 months. Before she worked with our family she worked for a friend of mine for 5 years until their son started Kindergarten. It breaks our hearts to let her go, but we don't have a choice. Our decision is strictly financial. We decided to put our youngest in preschool. Dina is now a permanent member of our family. She loves our entire family as much as we love her. It's very important to us that she finds a family that treats her as well as we do. We pay her $15 per hour. She does light cleaning...picking up toys, washing dishes, making the beds and the kids laundry. Her primary responsibility has always been to keep a close eye on the kids. She's done an amazing job of it. Dina takes our son to the park everyday and sits on the floor playing puzzles and games with him. She always feeds him healthy food and has never called in sick. Most importantly she respects all of my paranoid parenting quirks. She is available now for full-time work. For more information please contact JoAnne: edittv at aol.com
AND
My amazing nanny, Emma is available for full time help, Monday through Friday 8 hours a day, or for part time help 4 days a week. Ideally, I would like to keep her one day a week, if there is a family who could use her for 4 days. She has worked for me since my son was one month old. He is now 4 ½ years. She also takes care of my 7 year old daughter. I can't say enough great things about her. She is caring, loving, attentive, and trustworthy. My kids have so much fun with her! She speaks perfect English, drives her own car, and is legal. Emma drives to me from La Puente (40 miles each way). She would prefer to work on the Westside, Santa Monica or Beverly Hills. She is very reliable, never calls in sick, and is great with babies!! If you are interested, even in sharing a schedule, please contact Eden at eden1965 at aol.com or call Emma directly on her cell, 626-201-5820. We are very sad to lose Emma full time, but due to unforeseen circumstances, our needs have changed. Anyone who hires Emma will be very lucky as she is a gem!! Thanks, Eden Halfon
AND
This is a person I know well and would highly recommend. She has spent time with my 18 month old son and is great with him. Her name is Anita. She is looking for a new family to work with starting around July 7th. She has had a lot of experience working with infants through ages 8-9 yrs. She has a college degree in Teaching and was a 1st & 2nd grade schoolteacher in Budapest, Hungary for 8 years. She has also worked here with a family with 2 boys for 3 1/2 years and currently with 2 girls for the past 2 years. She has a CA/DL and all necessary paperwork along with excellent references. She loves working with children and is looking for a full / part time position long term. 25-35 hr per week schedule would be ideal, but she is flexible. If you are interested you can reach her at kaszonyi at sbcglobal.net. If you have any questions you can email me at caryn at goldco.us
AND
Nanny available to work in the Valley. She is looking for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (full days) and possibly Thursday. She speaks great English and drives as well. She is interested in working with a family long term with either one or two kids. She is caring, trustworthy, nuturing, creative and so much more. Her ideal rate is $15/hr. for two kids. Her name is Erica and if you are interested in meeting with her please call her cell at 818/472-3685. (Note, her cell phone voicemail is in Spanish; however, her English is great!)
AND
Astrid has been a nanny for nearly 20 years and is a mother of three (her youngest is in high school). She's from Guatamala where she was a school teacher so she has great experience and great credentials. She speaks perfect English and drives her own car. She\'s incredibly reliable - ALWAYS got to work on time and rarely called in sick (in fact, we had to send her home when she came to work sick because she didn\'t want to leave us in a bind). She was also almost always available to babysit on the weekends if we needed her. Both of our children adore her. One she cared for from when he was a baby and the other since he was three. She's definitely good with a variety of ages and knows how to engage them differently. Twice we left her with the kids when we went away for the weekend and never worried about them - they actually looked forward to spending these "special weekends" with her and we trusted her implicitly. Although she\'s primarily a nanny, she is willing to do light housekeeping, especially when she\'s caring for little kids who take naps. Even on busy days when our 5-yr-old was home all day with our toddler, in addition to keeping the kids fully engaged (we don't usually watch TV during the week) she still found time to clean up the kitchen, unload the dishwasher, do a load or two of laundry, help me start dinner AND pick up all the toys before we got home. Although it\'s not why we hired her and we didn\'t insist that she do these things, it was REALLY helpful! When we hired her, all of her references were glowing and I\'m sure she\'d be more than happy to provide that information to anyone who\'s interested. We were paying her $625/week for full-time Monday-Friday. Because she's the primary breadwinner for her family, she's not really in a position to make less than $600 per week. The last time I posted I had a lot of people contact me who wanted to pay her less for less hours, but it's really not an option for her. If you\'re interested, please email me off-line with any questions (mcandsg at sbcglobal.net), where you live, what you\'re looking for, and your telephone number. I'll then forward your information along to her so she can call you.
AND

When Did Motherhood Become a Career and Is It a Professional Disaster? A Conversation with Leslie Bennetts and Meg Wolitzer - Moderated by Meghan Daum, Los Angeles Times columnist
Tuesday, July 8, 7:30 PM at The Hammer Museum
Forty years ago, the term "stay at home mom" would have been considered redundant. Twenty years ago, "housewife" had become a dirty word and the ability to balance family and career was seen as an extension of female self-respect and empowerment. Today, some women are rejecting the 1980s-era notion of "having it all" by dropping out of the workforce--sometimes permanently--to raise their children. In her book The Feminine Mistake, journalist Leslie Bennetts suggests that women have been oversold on the idea they must choose between being good workers and being good mothers. Using extensive data, she suggests that women who stop working even temporarily sacrifice much more than financial stability. If there's a fictional companion to The Feminine Mistake, it's Meg Wolitzer's The Ten Year Nap. The story of four highly educated friends who put their careers on hold a decade earlier when they had children, Wolitzer's novel explores how and why these women still haven't gone back to work despite their children being school aged. In a lively and provocative discussion, these two writers--both mothers themselves--will talk about the complications and contradictions of "having it all" and the role that feminism does (or doesn't) play in the lives of contemporary women.
