Every Monday Matters
A guidebook of simple activities families can do to give back to the community and raise social awareness. The list of 52 free (or nearly free) ways to make a difference will keep those whines of "I'm boooored" at bay. And there's no time like the present: Help your kids get started on the weekly to-do list with one of these ideas.
Donate books. Go through your bookshelves and pull out books that you will never read again or have owned for more than 2 years and haven't read yet. Call your local library, school, foster home or children's organization to see if they need books.
Turn off the TV. Make a list of activities to do besides watching TV - reading, biking, swimming, walking, gardening or socializing with friends. Then start doing them.
Show your smile. Smile at everyone you see. Keep track of how many times you smile and laugh. At the end of your day of smiling, notice how you feel and whether people acted differently around you.

Grieving Unlived Lives
Most women whose babies have died in-utero experience feelings of shock, sadness, anger, guilt and depression. Often, it may be difficult to express these feelings with friends or family members, and yet it is vitally important for women who have experienced a miscarriage or the death of their baby to receive support. Awareness and expression of mourning paves the way for acceptance of profound loss. Grieving is not a linear process; healing takes time, patience and the willingness to accept help when needed. Grieving Unlived Lives is a psychotherapeutic process and support group for women whose babies have died in the womb, during birth or shortly after birth. The group, held in a quiet and comfortable private practice office, provides a safe, confidential space for women to mourn amidst others who have experienced a similar loss. The sense of isolation experienced by many women is diminished. Group participants have an opportunity to talk about their feelings, remember, discuss and honor their baby and learn some tools for coping with grief in a healthy way. Grieving Unlived Lives meets weekly for 1 1/2 hours, lasting for six consecutive weeks. Cost: $60 per session/ $360 for the six weeks. An initial 50-minute individual session is required
before joining the group. The fee for this session is $150. For more information and to schedule an appointment, call Sahaja Douglass. (310) 455-0713.

Betsy Mendel just launched Awareables
www.awareables.com
The new, appropriately named, Awareables just launched their all-new clothing line that invites everyone to live life more positively. Owners and "Inspirational Outfitters," Betsy Mendel and Rachel Singer, are on a journey to radiate positive energy from the inside out and help you think your way to happiness. This line of clever, comfy and chic quality tees includes Provatees, ThinkTanks, Ecotees and Yogaware. Each is available in a variety of colors, fabrics, sizes and fun-loving, positive phrases for both women and men. It seems this positive energy is catching on with people from all walks of life, as well as LA's trendy fashion scene. Already positive-practicing celebrities and design gurus are signing up for these thought tees styled with life mantras such as Gratitude Rocks and There's no place like OM. Other phrase favorites include Grounded For Life, Shift Happens and Inhale. Exhale. Repeat. Awareables' guiding force is a desire to have everyone lighten up a bit, to be present in the moment and have faith. They say that by being grateful, embracing love and by counting one's blessings that change is inevitable. They reference studies that show the average person thinks about 12,000 thoughts a day or 8.3 thoughts per minute and believe that positive or negative thinking can be the difference between a good day and a bad day. Singer and Mendel have built their business on personal experience and passion from the heart. To ensure the integrity of the line, the team did extensive research to find the highest quality materials in the market. The ECOTEES consist of 100% certified organic cotton men's t-shirts, as well as a line of silky soft bamboo women's tees which blend bamboo lyocell and cotton spandex to create a lightweight breathable jersey fabric, making them ecofriendly, easy-to-wear high fashion. And the PROVOCATEES & THINK TANKS lines consist of stylish, buttery soft, sheer rib cotton t-shirts and tank tops. Yogi friends will appreciate their line of colorful, thought-provoking yoga mats with savasana sayings and more. While Awareables is launching with tees now, they're already planning an array of other positively charged merchandise that's in the works. So stay tuned for more inspired living from Awareables soon.
