I rec'd such a positive response to yesterday's email regarding taking a CPR class. Since then, I have gathered additional information to pass along - again, i hope everyone took what I said to heart. this happened very close to home and it could have been anyone one of our children. it literally is a matter of life and death. Remember - Drowning is silent.  TV has taught us otherwise. There is no flailing, screaming, people just go under! There is no noise!!!!

Fun CPR in Canoga Park, on Canoga just north of Vanowen - www.funcpr.com
They cover infant, child and adult CPR and rescue breathing. It's done in a fun, easy and relaxing environment and much easier to both understand and sit through than a Red Cross CPR course.  The courses are on Sunday and begin at 12:30 and last about 3 hours for just the CPR portion. They also offer First Aid and that lasts about an hour after the CPR portion is completed.

Infant Swimming Resource Program(ISR)

The program is taught M-F, 10 min/day, one-on-one with the instructor, parents are not in the water. They teach ages 6 months to 6 years. Taught Mon-Fri from 9:30AM-11AM and 3:00PM-5PM for the months through September in a private outdoor heated salt water pool in Newbury Park. When you have a time slot, you are in that time slot M-F for 5-6 weeks. When you register with ISR,  you fill out a medical questionnaire on each child to be reviewed by a panel of nurses and a pediatrician at our corporate facility. After full review, your child will be approved to take lessons with specific safety protocols.  They will send a Parent Resource Book, T-shirt and swim diaper (not disposable) for your child to wear in lessons.  The costs are $105/child registration fee (paid to ISR) and $110/week ($90 for siblings) lesson fee paid to your instructor each week on Monday. This fabulous organization provides all kinds of reader friendly literature on CPR and Heimlich as well as other child safety issues.  This organization was started by a gal who's 2 year old daughter would have died had her she and her husband not taken a CPR class.  She has turned it into her mission to make CPR and other safety training available to people throughout the globe. She's been on many TV appearances and her organization has gotten huge.

Terrific Videographer for your party/Awesome price too!
For my oldest sons 1st birthday (he is now 5 1/2), we hired a videographer to video the party. I knew that meant "going all out", but he was my 1st child and it was the 1st grandchild's birthday in the family and I went a little crazy with the party planning! The video was professionally captured and edited and I have to tell you, that to this day, my son LOVES watching it, as do we. I still cry every time its on. It is just one of those memories that photos cannot capture as well. The video will also mean so much to him when he is older and wants to reminisce. I still maintain that if getting that video made was the only thing I could have spent money on, I would have done it again in a heartbeat.
