Skin Spa

Los Angeles Road Info
Closures scheduled on Pico Blvd. between Motor Avenue and Avenue of the Stars beginning the week of Monday, July 14. The lane closures, initially on the westbound side of Pico and then on the eastbound, are needed to permit construction work associated with widening the road and adding a new turn lane in front of Fox Studios.  The construction work is scheduled from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm each day and the project will last for approximately 14 - 16 weeks.

A couple of months ago, Amanda & Megan read an article about how the rate of severe diaper rash among underprivileged babies has soared, due to the fact that the mommies simply don't have enough diapers to change every dirty one. As you know, you only need to be a mommy to understand the sadness and frustration of knowing that your baby could get relief if you only had one more diaper. So, they have set up diaper drops at three locations around town (Pump Station Hollywood, Pump Station Santa Monica, and Dragonfly Dulou in Silverlake), where mommies can come and drop off their opened bags of diapers that their babies have since outgrown (or new diapers they just want to donate). They have been running the diapers to the L.A. Mission, where they have a makeshift daycare center where mommies in need can come with their babies during the day. They will stock the daycare center and distribute the overflow to the mommies that need help. They have been doing it for a couple of months and pledge to keep the runs to the Mission going as long as there are diapers to be dropped. It has been a very rewarding program so far. The Mission has been so grateful and, having toured the place and met with them about their needs, Megan can vouch for what a great organization it is. Also, the simplicity of the program has been very important. After donating so much money for food that never got to Tsunami victims, or trailers that are still sitting empty outside of New Orleans, it has been very fulfilling to actually see the outcome of our efforts. That doesn't mean to stop giving to those very important causes, but it will remind you that in addition there is a tremendous reward to working locally and being able to actually oversee the process. Kitty's Needs a Home
Venus is 10 years old and is a very good cat. She is healthy and the only problem is that the little boy that lives with the kitty is allergic to him. The Animal Assistance League cannot take her. They have over 400 calls a week of people asking for placement of a cat/kitten; while there is only one call a week for someone looking to adopt. The animal shelter is not an option. Approximately 90% of the animals that are brought in there are killed within a few days. When one animal comes in they have to kill another one to make room. She has been a psychotherapist in private practice since 1978. What sets Ms. Brighton apart from most therapists is that her specialty is Psycho-Oncology.
