The Women's Center for Psychotherapy 
Now offering a new 10 week Reflective Parenting Workshop series for parents of toddlers or preschoolers.  Parents will think meaningfully about their children in the context of standard developmental challenges of early childhood.  Groups will discuss a different topic each week and parents will have the opportunity to develop skills to address the ways their children are working with these challenges.  Topics include:
Temperament, Responding to Children's Distress, Separation, Play and Parental Involvement, Discipline and Anger.
Parents will develop:
-New ways to communicate with children
-Greater capacity to regulate children's emotions
-Increased confidence in their parenting
-Effective behavioral interventions
-Awareness of the impact of their own behavior and feelings on their children's development
Now forming a group for parents of Toddlers or Preschoolers to begin early March, 2008. Workshops will run for 10 consecutive weeks, 1.5 hours each, at a cost of $50 per workshop. Each will be co-led by clinical psychologists Deborah Willson Bilder, Ph.D. and Anne Thompson, Ph.D. and will be held in Dr. Bilder's private office in Santa Monica (see below for address).

Foreign language preschool ?
AnnBernice Kalec has been researching the possibilities of starting a foreign language preschool ( starting at infant level.)  She is looking for feedback on the need for such a school and where a good location would be. Thus far she knows of  Worldspeak in WLA which is opening in March with a bilingual English/Spanish or Chinese and a German one in Santa Monica.  She would love to know of any and all others that exist throughout the LA area.  She is thinking in terms of offering a number of languages with a bi or trilingual total immersion format. Lets Play Music
Developed by BYU Music Education Director, Shelle Soelberg. It is a 6 semester music/piano prep program for children ages 4 – 7 years. Lets Play Music reachs children when their brains are at the optimal capacity to learn the language of music (ages 3 –9), instead of delaying music education until their fingers catch up! (8 – 9). It is divided into 3 semesters: Winter (jan. – May), Summer (May/June – Aug.) and Fall (Sept. – Dec.). Each semester is once a week for 15 weeks. Semesters need to be completed consecutively, but breaks can be taken in between each one, if preferred.
