Funny how every time you think you've figured your kids out, they present another enigma. The latest puzzle: They proudly show off their battle wounds to their friends. Yet when it's time for you to apply a bandage, the tears start streaming. Turn that make-believe frown upside down with Ouchies Make Your Own-Ages bandages. Each box comes with twenty solid pink, orange, yellow, blue, and purple adhesive bandages - and three colored markers, so your future Picasso can get to work on a new masterpiece. And design it from, well, scratch. Although figuring out how that giant scribble and two dots is a picture of Spot is a whole other mystery. www.ouchiesonline.com

May not be for too many of you...but pass along to anyone that it may apply
This blog is the subject of a forthcoming book, Desperate Exes: a Survival Guide for Women Who've Been Screwed. It's about helping women protect themselves when relationships go bad. Most advice about divorce lives in a fantasy world of nice, amicable breakups, instead of the knock-down, dirty drag-out that is the reality of divorce for many women. All too often, women in this position get screwed - financially, emotionally, and otherwise. Desperate Exes, very simply, will get you unscrewed. You'll learn how to find the right lawyer and how to navigate the court system. You'll understand how to protect your own money, and how to get as much of his as you deserve. You'll know how to deal with stalking, potential violence, and other threats. And in the end, once the war is over, you'll be able to pick up the pieces and get on with your life, strong, independent.not just surviving, but thriving! http://www.desperateexes.com/

Turns out shopping is a lot more fun when you don't have to actually shop
You used to be a comparison shopper. You know, hitting five different stores before making a purchase to ensure you unearthed the coolest possible item. Then you had a child. Now the priority is getting in and out without any tantrums or property damage - which is to say, quickly. Before you fall victim another impulse buy, check out Twilite Moon's website. They've already done the hard work, distilling the vast array of baby and kids gear, toys, clothes, furniture and maternity wear on the market down to the best, most stylish options. Among the keenly edited offerings: ultra-mod wooden high chairs, elegant changing tables that double as dressers, sexy nursing bras, even masculine leather and canvas diaper bags for Dad. For more information, visit www.twilitemoon.com.
The Multicultural Learning Center
http://www.mlccharter.org
Here is another review on the center from a list member:
My name is Ruth Bujanda-Moore, Psy.D, and I too am a very proud parent of a first grader at the Multicultural Learning Center, aka MLC. My son has attended this charter school since he was in pre-K. As a bilingual (in Eng and Span) and bicultural mother, it was very important for me to enroll my son in a dual language school where he will become fully proficient in reading, writing, and speaking Eng. and Span. As a clinical psychologist, I can attest to the benefits in the professional (and personal) realm when one is bilingual (or even trilingual, etc). In my work as a psychologist, it has always been an asset that I am bilingual, never a hindrance. Please feel free to contact me at docruth at pacbell.net if you have any questions about MLC, their program, and/or their amazingly wonderful teachers. Call them at 818-716-5783. They are in the process of recruiting kids for Kinder. It is a lottery system, so don't miss out on this opportunity to give your child the gift of 2 languages!
