FACTS & MYTHS ABOUT CHILDHOOD SEXUAL ABUSE
Fact: There are over 39 Million survivors of childhood sexual abuse in the United States today.
Fact: The actual incidence of childhood sexual abuse is difficult to measure because the vast majority of offenses are never reported to police.
Fact: The National Crime Victimization Survey found that children under 18 are nearly three times more likely to be sexually victimized compared to an adult.
Fact: According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 7 boys are sexually abused or exploited by the age of 18
Fact: 90% of those abusing children have an established, trusting relationship with the child, are NOT STRANGERS.
Fact: 30% of that 90 percent are relatives.
Fact: Childhood sexual abuse occurs among ALL socioeconomic and educational levels, and across all racial and cultural groups in the nation and in the world.
Fact: The Megan's Law Sex Offender Registry only informs the public about sex offenders who have been caught, convicted, and released back into the community. It cannot protect us against predators who haven't been caught and continue to victimize children.
Fact: The typical adult pedophile will commit an average of 117 sex crimes in their lifetime

On Sunday May 4, 2008, Kol Tikvah Preschool will be holding its 12th Annual Fundraising Luncheon and Silent Auction. Proceeds from this event have improved the school tremendously in the past years. They were able to make several improvements to the playground including paying for the new foam flooring under the climbing equipment this past year. They have also been able to incorporate extra curricular classes into the program, to host special event days for the students, and to allow teachers to fulfill their supply "wish list." The money they hope to raise this year will allow them to cover the rest of playground floor with permanent foam for added comfort and safety, as well as for purchasing additional, exciting supplies and learning aids for the classrooms. Eleven years ago Kol Tikvah Preschool opened its doors to children ages 2 to 6. Since that time they have provided early learners with a positive environment in which to learn, grow and develop into our future community leaders. The school relies heavily on an annual fundraiser to help them expand the school, add to the programs and purchase new learning tools and supplies. With every donation, your name and/or business name will be featured in the event program and Kol Tikvah's bulletin, which is circulated to over 450 families. With the 150 attendees and the exposure to over 450 families, they invite you to help us make this year's event the best yet.
