Interactive play - fun for the whole family!
The Boychick Affair: The Bar Mitzvah of Harry Boychick - In the tradition of "Tony n' Tina's Wedding" and "Grandma Sylvia's Funeral", this environmental comedy gives new meaning to the catch phrase 'dysfunctional family.' "The Boychick Affair" is a hands-on show where audience members will mingle with the actors. From Harry Boychick's ceremony to the rompous reception afterward, the play tells the story of twenty-three different characters dealing with contemporaneous issues in a humorous way. The show includes a dancing, laughter and a celebratory meal... sure to be a hit. Written by Amy Lord

BabySnaps
Inspired by founder Vanessa Mahler's desire to create a cool and innovative clothing line for babies and kids. While pregnant with her first child, Vanessa received countless baby outfits. From short and long sleeve onesies to short and long sleeve tees, Vanessa thought why not have one outfit that could be both short sleeve and long sleeve. So using her background in the apparel industry, BabySnaps was born almost the same time Vanessa's daughter Emma entered the world. BabySnap's cool and convenient "snappable" sleeves and pants are sure to make moms (and dads too) life easier when dressing your little one. All BabySnap outfits are "Made in the USA" and only use the softest fabrics. http://www.babysnapsclothing.com/
Pet Sitter Rec from a friend
Paola Velasquez of MY PAWZ N CLAWZ watched our two dogs several times during the summer and over the holidays and is very reliable and trustworthy. In addition to coming to our home to feed our dogs, she picks up the mail, brings the trash cans in and will water your plants. She played with and loved our dogs like they were her own. If you have animals, this is the best person we have found to take care of our pets. She even emailed me pictures of our dogs while we were away. Her husband is a police officer with LAPD and often accompanies her to the client's homes to insure that everything is okay. You can call Dena Feingold for references at 818-674-2888. He is wonderful with all kids -- especially the screamers & ones fearing the shears! But most importantly for us moms - he does an amazing job -- my boys' hair have grown out the best with his cuts. Work, Family and Parenting in L.A
SOCCER MOM FANTASY: Divide The Ride (www.dividetheride.com) is a free Internet tool that creates a car-pool calendar based on participating families' schedules, then sends it via e-mail and text message to each participating parent. Using this simple application, a parent can open a free account, enter their kids' activity info and invite other families to carpool. So if your daughter plays soccer with several other kids from the neighborhood, you can figure out a sane and environmentally friendly way to get all the players to practices and games. How very 2008.
TOY TRACKER: For parents who track these things, the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the government agency responsible for making sure toysold in the U.S. aren't tainted with lead or other toxins, is getting a big funding increase for fiscal 2008 that should help it do a better job. Under an appropriations bill passed last month by Congress, the agency will get $80million this year, $17million more than in 2007. According to press reports, that's the biggest budget hike for the agency in 30 years.
ZEN DAD: If more fathers thought about parenting the way Leo Babauta does, there would be a lot more happy moms - and kids - out there. The father of six writes Zenhabits (www.zenhabits.net), a blog devoted to productivity and simple living. His How to be a Great Dad list is among the best I've seen, instructing dads to read to the kids, do the mom stuff and, most important, give kids your time.

Two series will be offered: January 8 - February 1 and February 4 - Feb 29. Reservations are required; visit www.ChildrensNatureInstitute.org to make a reservation. Participants will enjoy hands-on discovery, stories, crafts, and walks at three of LA's most beautiful natural parks. Children will learn about local flora and fauna while practicing early language, math and science skills. Each week will focus on a different theme. The workshops are designed to nurture children's innate curiosity about nature and give parents a chance to bond with their children in peaceful, natural settings. Workshop features include hands-on learning activities, a guided trail walk, and story time, plus a parent mentoring activity.
The 4-week series is offered one day a week (10am-12pm) at Franklin Canyon (Beverly Hills/Studio City), Temescal Canyon (Pacific Palisades), and Eaton Canyon (Pasadena). The same series will be held at the three locations; the series will vary a little by site because of the different natural features at each park.
