Have a great weekend everyone!!!!!!!

Leap Day is every fours years....almost
It's every four years except years ending with "00" that are not divisible by 400. The year in which this occurs, is called a Leap Year. Why the fancy calculation - The earth rotates around the sun once every 365 and about 1/4 days. So, by adding an extra day every four years, we get mighty close to keeping the calendar consistent with the earth's annual trip around the sun. And to be very precise, the earth orbits the sun every 365.242190 days. So, on years ending in "00", (except those not divisible by 400) we skip Leap Year and Leap Day. With all that fancy calculating out of the way, let's just celebrate the day.

Live In Nanny Lead from a List Member
"We have a wonderful Live In Nanny but due to various reasons we no longer need a nanny. She has been living with us since August and is wonderful with our son. She started one day before he was born and they love each other. She plays with him and takes him for walks. We have never gotten a car seat for her because we knew the situation was temporary so she does not take him further than she can walk. She is legal and does pay taxes. Though we have given her 3 weeks notice, she may leave earlier if she finds the right job. You can call Edna directly at (323) 403-6861. I can go on and on about her so please call Shira Titen for more information and a referral at (818) 681-7183 or email bckinthevalley04 at yahoo.com"

Just for Kids - Makes learning a new language fun!
Got a Dora fanatic on your hands? Your little linguist has picked up a couple of new words like vamanos and excellente, but she's far from being a U.N translator. Professor Pocket takes bilingualism a step farther with a CD that helps kids and families learn Spanish. "Our Silly Farm Adventure" weaves English and Spanish dialogue (and sneaks in basic grammar, vocabulary and sentence structure) throughout a fun story and reinforces it with silly songs. Created for kids ages 2 and up by a multicultural family with their own children in mind, the CD offers catchy phrases that los ninos may start to pick up after counting sheep in "Cinco Ovejas," or looking for dinosaurios. And for adults who aren't as rapido on the uptake, a translation is available online. http://www.professorpocket.com/

Hottest Trends At The New York Toy Fair 2008
The American International Toy Fair 2008 was certainly an eyeful - colorful, crowded and full of new and exciting toys of course! Here is a quick look at the trends of this year's Toy Fair:

a.. Eco-Friendly Toys (Green Toys): This was the biggest thing that popped out at me at this year's Toy Fair. There were lots of manufacturer's advertising green toys, earth friendly toys, toys with a "nature" related theme, toys based on wildlife etc. Surprisingly (or not so), I had predicted accurately that this was going to be a hot theme this year.
  b.. Made in USA Toys
c.. Play 'n' Exercise Toys: Many toy companies are now promoting toys with "active" play, which are toys that make your youngster move. Most of these toys are electronic, either to be connected to your TV, DVD or just used with an electronic controller.
d.. Toys with a Virtual Component: More and more players are jumping on the "virtual world" bandwagon.
e.. Toys with Technology/Interactive Toys: This has become a pretty standard feature in most of the toys we see nowadays. The trend continues this year too. Lots of learning laptops, interactive books, interactive games, interactive toys... the list goes on.
f.. Educational Toys: With and without the technical component.
g.. Traditional/Classical Toys: There were lots of traditional toy manufacturers at this year's fair. Also, lots of brands including Lego, My Little Pony, Mary Meyer, etc were celebrating their anniversaries!

On Deck Baseball
Brand-new 13,000 square foot indoor baseball training facility located in Burbank. Former pro-baseball players Glen Raasch (Chicago Cubs and the Seattle Mariners), and Daris Toussaint (San Francisco Giants) are on staff at On Deck, to coach players enlisted in the facility's professional youth training program, West Coast Baseball School. Open to the public seven days a week, the state of the art cages allow players to practice indoors in a heated and cooled facility. Players can enjoy first quality equipment pitching real baseballs and can use On Deck's good quality aluminum or wood bats (or bring their own). The cages are an ideal location to practice pitching and catching in a 70 foot pitching lane, or to come to work-out on a variety of exercise equipment including a circuit of Ariel Fast-Twitch machines. "We even have the capability of hosting parties and can provide a unique space for community meetings," said Michael Zugsmith, who owns and operates the
facility. Tom Crowther, head coach at John Burroughs High School in Burbank and regional scout for Diamond King Baseball is also on staff with the Baseball School. Another man's trash is another's treasure - recycle and give
Lara is working on a project in which her company is re-using tiles, wood leftover, plumbing fixtures from other jobs. For example, she had 63 sq. ft. of her white opaque tile left from her master remodel that she is using in this small bath remodel for a family in need. Please send any subs' e-mails/phone #s and or other stone fabricators to find out what type of remnants they may have? Would your cabinetry subs have some wood left from a job or unused cabinets he would want to unload and they obviously will pay for any materials..it's just sort of a recycling story for a family in need who is expecting another baby soon - "another man's trash in another mans' treasure"...
