Cookie Monster
Now Elizabeth Blair led off this blog with a post that confessed her fondness for magnificent obsession has made it to the radio -- and to the video. As part of our In Character explorations, we convinced Cookie Monster to come to NPR's New York studios, where Elizabeth talked to him about the boundaries of his appetites -- and got him to answer a version of the Proust Questionnaire. The video is below, as well as on the story page. Oh, and you'll definitely want to watch through to the end. Check the expression on Blair's face when Cookie pulls that [spoiler deleted] off the desk to eat it. If you're wondering what she's so alarmed about, I'm guessing it's whether she's going to have to pay for a replacement: Those things run thousands of dollars apiece. http://www.npr.org/blogs/incharacter/2008/02/cookie_monster_comes_to_npr.html

JUST TELL ME WHAT TO SAY
Parents are often perplexed by their children's typical behaviors and age appropriate questions. Whether it is how to approach the "birds and the bees," learning about death, sibling rivalry, or just basic "do's and don'ts," Betsy Brown Braun, a renowned child development specialist and popular parent educator, provides "tips and scripts" so that parents will have the answers at their fingertips. Hailed by The New York Times as a "parenting guru," Braun offers the tools parents need to explain the world to their growing children. Her down-to-earth advice, delivered with humor, is derived from her expertise working with thousands of children (from toddlers to teens) and parents for over three decades. Braun's sold-out seminars, parenting groups, and educational conferences focus on issues that confront parents daily. She is the founder of Parenting Pathways and a mother of triplets. Just Tell Me What To Say is an essential book which provides hands-on, just give-it-to-me-straight guidance so that parents gain the skills and confidence they need to handle the sometimes challenging situations that inevitably accompany raising children ages 2-6 and beyond. www.justtellmewhattosay.com
