Happy Holiday Weekend!
MY FAVORITE BLANKETS ON THE PLANET!
So, here is my story. When I was pregnant, EVERYONE was raving about these blankets. Well, already having 3 kids, I had more blankets than I knew what to do with! I could not think of buying more. But a friend(THANK YOU JAMIE!) gave me a 4 pack of the Aden + Anais blankets and since I had them, I thought, what the heck, everyone loves them, so I will try them. Well....let me tell you - NOW i know why everyone loves them - THEY ARE AMAZING. I swear, if the company wanted me to do a commercial for them, I would do it for free! It is not very often as a 4th and 5th time mom, that I come across something new and innovative, that I just cant live without. This is one of those things! Here is the company's website:
http://www.adenandanais.com/
i SWEAR they are SOOOOOOOOOO worth every penny and you will LOVE them. I know that they sell them at babies R us...but call - the minute they get a shipment, they sell out. i have been twice to buy them and twice they have been out. So, being the bargain shopper that I am, I had to find the best price available. i ordered more online at:
http://bambinoland.com/store/template/product_display.php?Page_next_page=All&NID=12&sorter=&arranged=&SID=b8c5a34a69d284862823e3d20304fa04
i even found a promo code - MERCH - that give you a 15%(kinda cancels out the tax and part of the shipping costs!) discount and it's the cheapest place i have found so far! other promo codes for the this site include BAM15, EARTH15 & FIRST15

THE PERFORMING ARTS GROUP
http://www.performingartsgroup.com
Located in Encino on Ventura Blvd. It's a wonderful performing arts studio for ages 2-17 and is right off the 405 by the 101. Classes begin on Sept. 2nd and if you enroll today(8-29), the registration fee will be waved and you will get a free class coupon that your child can use for any class that they are not all ready enrolled in. There are a wide variety of classes (there is something for everyone) and the studio has dance, music and acting classes that are both classes and privates. "The Performing Arts Group is here to make opportunities available to area youth. They incorporate many different aspects of training and do so through education, instruction, guidance, participation in a professional quality showcase, various programs and most of all, FUN! They are a passionate and caring creative group that offer the performing arts to children of all levels, ages 2-17. The friendly and welcoming intimate classroom environment is open to any student who wishes to study dance for fun, exercise or to discover the performing arts. Small classes, personal attention and quality training are some of the fundamentals they instill. They believe encouraging kids to develop their own personal, artistic and educational strengths in a safe, nurturing, non-competitive atmosphere, allows them to use their imaginations in a way that is quite different from most traditional performing arts studios. They pride themselves on giving the students a wonderfully FUN experience in the arts where they will gain confidence and a sense of accomplishment that is personally rewarding, life enhancing and wholly satisfying. The performing arts should be about discovering life and yourself through the arts. The wide-range of programs are based on level and an age appropriate curriculum. Their goal is to provide technique, instill confidence and help each student develop as a person as well as an artist while practicing social, physical and gross motor skills. They strive to make each student feel supported, successful and accomplished. The group was started because they recognized the need for young people in Los Angeles to have a more accessible artistic outlet. The classes promote self esteem, coordination, focus and cognitive skills. They teach all forms of the performing arts and will continue to expand with more unique classes , summer camps, special programs and birthday parties. They are dedicated to children and the arts and know that quality instruction and individualized attention are the building blocks to developing their creative abilities. With that said, the classes are limited to 10 students with a minimum of 3. This allows them to attend to each students needs which is essential to their overall growth. The performing arts are a wonderful way for your child to express themselves. At the end of every school year, they put on a professional showcase where each class performs a piece that they have learned. This is a great way to validate themselves for a job well done and show their loved ones what they've worked on. Once children enroll in our classes, they're hooked! From music lessons to dance programs, they have got it all taken care of. Your child will explore the wonderful world of the performing arts in a positive and friendly environment that they will cherish for the rest of their lives."

Bringing Harmony Home - Join Audra's Music Together in Westwood and Bel-Air
New classes for this beloved music and movement program begin September 14th in new Westwood and Bel-Air locations. The beauty of the Music Together program is that your child can attend from birth through age four through all nine song collections. Classes follow the recommendations of child development researchers—grouping children of a variety of ages because this fosters natural, family-style learning. Younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can go to class together. Each child participates at his or her own level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, watching, or exploring musical instruments. Any caregivers—parents, grandparents, nanny—can bring the children. The whole family is welcome for this important family music experience. The Fall Session features the "Bongos" illustrated songbook and two CDs -- one for home and one for the car! We meet every week for a 45-minute class for 10 consecutive weeks. RSVP for a FREE TRIAL class on Friday, September 5th or sign up now and reserve your child's space for a wonderful, enriching experience and music education. Please visit www.audrasmusictogether.com or call (310) 482-7222.

Free community event focused on Prop 8
National Council of Jewish Women Los Angeles in conjunction with EQCA, California Faith for Equality, Jews for Marriage Equality, PFLAG and the City of West Hollywood present a free community event focused on Prop 8 which changes the California Constitution to eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry. It would provide a constitutional amendment that only a marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California. The California Supreme Court took action to restore justice by striking down the ban on same-sex marriage as unconstitutional -- a ban actively opposed by NCJW. The California Constitution guarantees the same rights and freedoms to every Californian. Yet Proposition 8, an initiative on the November ballot, seeks to deny gay and lesbian couples the freedom to marry, a right given to all other loving and committed couples. The constitutional amendment, would only need a simple majority to pass is also a concern to many that the Constitution can be changed by a simple majority. Gay activist Robin Tyler who with her attorney, Gloria Allred challenged the Supreme Court ban and won the right to marry her long-term partner stated, "It would be great if the Jewish community could provide leadership on this issue. It takes a lot of courage," "This isn't about wedding cake and Tupperware, this is about equal rights.” Moderator for the event is Cary Davidson, Legal Counsel to No on Prop 8, Equality for All. Panelists include: Robin Tyler, Activist for Lesbian/Gay, AIDS & Women’s Movement; Rabbi Denise Eger of Congregation Kol Ami in West Hollywood and Rabbi Jerald Brown of Temple Ahavat Shalom in Northridge.
