Please help this little boy
Lori Turbow's close friend has a baby who was diagnosed last week with Melanoma which has spread to his liver and lung.  He is only 4 1/2 months old and this is their first child.  As you can well imagine, the family is in shock and is devastated by this news.  Unfortunately, being that Gavin (the child) is so young, and that only .3% of babies under the age of a year contract this horrible disease, it is uncertain what the futue holds for this precious boy. He started his first round of chemo a few days ago and will end it monday morning.  The schedule for his chemo treatments will be 5 days at the hospital and then a 21 day break where he will be able to go home and rest.  Then, back to the hospital for 5 days of treatment, and so on.  The parents and Gavin will have to endure this schedule for a year. Gavin had a central line put into his chest and when he is home a nurse will come to the house to monitor him for infection, severe dehydration, etc.  The parents will have to administer various antibiotics to Gavin via the central line.  The parents are about to embark on a journey that we can only imagine.  As we all know, even with insurance, their costs will be huge, and giving is one less burden that we as a united front can provide for them. There has been a website set up www.babygavinroark.com.  My understanding is that there is an account set up through that which you can donate money.  The smallest of donations are appreciated. If there is any problems sending money via this account, you may send checks to Lori in the name of the mother Jaimee Roark. She will personally deliver any funds that come her way.
