April is Autism Awareness Month
Here are some facts that will help you to understand the scope of the problem (courtesy of the Autism Society of America):
1 in 150 births
1 to 1.5 million Americans
Fastest-growing developmental disability
10 - 17 % annual growth
Growth comparison during the 1990s:
--U.S. population increase: 13%
--Disabilities increase: 16%
--Autism increase: 172%
Autism is most prevalent in boys, where the statistic is 1 in 94 births.
Through diet and biomedical intervention, THERE IS NOW HOPE for these children. Finally, after years of hopelessness, children on the autism spectrum are being healed every day.

Creative Courage
On Topanga Canyon at Dumetz in Woodland Hills. What a find! They have a large craft table in the back of the store and the kids (or adults) can pick out various crafts to try. Unlike Tinker, they will walk you through the "how to" and teach you something new. 40% off for kids that are 6 and under. Example of a project - Pick out a big letter(ie: "N") and the teacher will show your child how to decoupage using scraps of ribbon, fabric, colored papers, sequins, glitter, etc. Your child can easily spend over hour and a half on their projects and it only costs $12.00. They don't charge you more money if you stay a long time. They will happily start an afternoon class if some kids are interested, but it is great for a "drop in" or last minute kind of place. She will also do Private Parties with food for kids or wine and cheese for adults. http://creativecourageart.com/
