Cool Gadgets!
Sick of fumbling for your keys or, worse, forgetting them? The SmartScan biometric keyless entry system ($190) recognizes your fingerprint—and up to 50 others—for easy, secure entry. It runs for about a year on four AA batteries. www.gokeyless.com

OK, it’s not life’s greatest dilemma, but taking off your gloves to fumble with the phone, PDA or music player can get annoying. Gloves like the Tec Touch from 180s ($50) have silicon pads implanted in the thumb and forefinger, so you can dial, type or scroll without fear of frostbite.

Transferring VHS or digital photos to DVD just got easier. Plug a VCR, camcorder or the memory card from your digital camera into the DVDirect ($229), and content transfers in real time—up to 12 hours of video per disc. No PC required. www.SonyStyle.com

Can’t teach your tech-challenged loved ones to open an attachment? Hook them up with an HP Printing Mailbox ($150) and a Presto account ($10 a month). The recipient can get messages and photos straight from a printer—no need for a computer.

Need milk? Walk past the SmartShopper ($150), say the word, and it will record your voice. Before you go to the store, press Print for a list that’s automatically organized by aisle. www.Target.com, www.Amazon.com, Sharper Image, Sur La Table

Being the animal lover that I am...I had to pass along:
I rec'd the following email - read on...
I need to find a home for this cat. Indy is about 6 years old and weighs about 10 pounds. And here is his story…
On the Monday before Thanksgiving, an SUV roared past my house with a cat clinging on to the rear bumper for dear life. He leaps off while the SUV is still moving and darts under my contractor's truck. We manage to pull him out to see if he was hurt. He looked to be in pretty bad shape (possibly abused). His nails were all worn down and bleeding, his fur was a mess, and he had patches of bald spots. I took him to the Vet right away and did the "works" on him…flea bath, shots, bandages for his feet, scanned him for a chip (there was none), etc. And it turns out that he is not a feral cat. The Vet said he was already neutered and that there were stitches in his head. We surmised that at one point in time he did belong to someone, but had since been abandoned for awhile. I have been nursing him back to health and trying to get him to be re-socialized with people. He is quite healthy now, eating regularly, and even gaining weight. He is also getting better around people…allowing himself to be petted and even picked up at times. Indy still has trust issues though as he'll growl when he wants to be left alone. All in all this guy has been through a lot so its going to take some time get him to be trusting again. I already have 3 cats and now a puppy so while I can give Indy food, shelter, and human interaction my place is "full" and therefore only a temporary solution. Indy needs a permanent home (kept indoors only, please), with no dogs, so he can rehabilitate in peace. Indy's new family needs to have experience with cats and most of all have a great deal of love and patience. Indy is not going to be all hugs and cute right away. He really needs time to adapt to his new life and he needs a family that can give him the time to do so. If you or someone you know and trust can help please let me know. I have already put in close to $400 in Vet bills on him and he just had his booster shots so health-wise he should be all set. All Indy needs is a loving family and a stable home. And if for any reason it just doesn't work out in his next home I'll take him back and figure something else out. Thanks!

7 NANNY/HOUSEKEEPER LEADS:
We are sad to say goodbye to our part-time nanny Christina Lopez who has worked for us for over 2 years. We are having our third child and will be needing live-in help, but Christina has become a part of our family and our girls (5 and 2.5) have become extremely attached to her. She is very playful, energetic and fun and truly engages the kids, doing crafts, playing "tea party" and even doing dress up with both of them. She is also great at cleaning and doing laundry and without being asked, will clean up the house and often go above and beyond what needs to be done. She is reliable, responsible, very hard working and speaks perfect English. She is available Monday and Wednesday all day and either a half day on Friday (8am-12am) or full day if necessary (she works for another family but they are able and willing to give up those hours if need be.) She would prefer to stay in the valley. If interested, you can call her directly at 818 632 2776. For references, call Sara at 818 760 0474 and/or Pam at 818 788 8555.
AND
Sonia Ponce is looking for a position with a loving family in the San Fernando Valley. Sonia worked for us during our twins first two years (2000 - 2002) and has worked with multiples ever since. Sonia is warm, kind, gentle and caring. She is responsible, very dependable and has her own transportation. She has taken classes in Infant and Child CPR, Basic First Aid, Home and Outdoor Safety and more. Sonia is Spanish speaking but also communicates well in English. Please call Sonia directly at (818) 895-9772 (home) or (818) 448-
4373 (cell). If you would like to speak with me, please feel free to call me at (562) 598-4393. Thank you, Sharon Fetterman
AND
My nanny's sister is moving here tomorrow from El Salvador. Clearly, I have never met her, but if she is anything like my nanny, then she is a gem. She leaves behind a 8 month old and a 3 yr old and hopes that they soon will be able to come too. She is looking for work as a nanny/housekeeper, full time, live out, mon-friday. She can either work in the city or the valley. she does not drive and will need to take the bus and really only speaks spanish. She is eager for a job and is willing to learn. If you are intersted, please call Dynna Romero at her sisters where she is staying at 323-896-0915. Thanks,
Jen(jlev at socal.rr.com)
AND
A nanny that works down the street from me has a daughter that is looking for full-time, live-out work in the valley. She is 21, speaks English, drives and has experience and a daughter of her own. You can reach Maida at 661-533-5519 or 818-787-9533. Thanks, Sara(sbrooks7 at socal.rr.com)

AND
My OB/GYN who has two little girls recently changed her daycare situation and had to let her nanny go. Her nanny, Sylvia, is looking for full or part time work as a nanny. She worked for my Dr. for two and a half years, caring for the girls since one was a newborn and the other was 9 months. I know the Dr. liked Sylvia very much and will serve as a reference. This newly remodeled beauty, within walking distance to Carpenter Elementary is south of Ventura Boulevard in the Silver Triangle - one of the most desirable areas of Studio City. This 1900 square foot home features 3 spacious bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms, and was just remodeled from top to bottom 3 years ago - everything is new! The eat-in kitchen has granite countertops, new cabinets, high end stainless steel Bosch appliances and a french door leading to the slate patio and grassy backyard. The master suite has a walk-in closet, a jetted spa tub, custom vanity with granite, and beautiful tile floors. The formal dining room has wainscoting and a french door leading to the yard. The house features beautiful hardwood floors, custom paint colors, high ceilings, patio cover, 2 car detached garage, new wiring, CAT-5 connections in every room, and a washer & dryer. Walk to Carpenter Elementary, Starbucks, tons of boutiques and bookstores, and great restaurants. Close to the studios, easy westside and downtown access, awesome neighbors, great landlords. We remodeled the home for ourselves but circumstances and work has taken us out of town, and we would love our home to go to great people! We're asking $4,250 /mo and that includes a gardener. The home is available January 1, 2008. Please email me at weissrobin at hotmail.com if you would like pictures or more details! Thanks so much, Robin and Peter Weiss
